EDWARD
ALBERT
...20 FEBRUARY 1951 - 22 SEPTEMBER 2006
TALENTED ACTOR, ENVIRONMENTALIST, CHAMPION OF THE NATIVE AMERICAN
PEOPLE, LINGUIST, MUSICIAN AND...
INCREDIBLE HUMAN BEING

Two worlds have lost a very special man...the world of entertainment and the natural world for whom he fought so passionately for many years.
Edward Albert died on the 22nd September 2006 following a 17 month battle with lung cancer. It appears only his family and possibly close friends knew he was ill and consequently his death stunned Hollywood and all his fans worldwide. Coming just a year after his own father's death at the age of 99, it is even more devastating, since Edward was just 55 years old. He should have been with us all for so much longer.
To those who knew him even just a little, he was a man of integrity, compassion, for his fellow man and for virtually every specie with whom he shared the planet. He was gracious, charming and a hero to many; he had, in fact, performed a number of heroic acts, helping to save lives in various circumstances in which he found himself. Together with his father, Eddie, they managed to save the brown pelican from extinction, an amazing achievement in this world of man-made pollution and constant threats to wildlife. His devotion to the Native American community resulted in Edward being appointed their Californian State Commissioner for several years running, a job he was proud to do. He was an adventurer, raconteur and all round entertainer, equally at home chatting with his fans as he was with his peers in Hollywood.
He was, first and foremost, a family man. He had been married to his beloved wife Kate, for well over thirty years (a rarity in Hollywood) and their only child, daughter Thais (a singer with rock band Sugar In Wartime), meant the world to him. When his father Eddie became ill with Alzheimers Disease Edward virtually abandoned his own career for the final ten years of his life...both their lives as it eventually transpired.
His stunningly handsome Latino looks merely reflected his beauty inside; all of us who loved him have been cheated of everything he should have accomplished in the next 30 or so years. For those of us who were privileged to meet him we will remember his words, the touch of his hand, his magical smile, and we understand how lucky we were. For others, who had hoped to meet him one day, we have to celebrate his life by enjoying his work on screen. In this way we can keep him in our hearts and he will never really be gone. God Bless you, Edward, sweet dreams...
